I adore her not only for her appearance but also for her intelligence and the way she thinks of life…Well actually I admired her look first, the other parts kicked in when I got to know her more deeply.

I still remember the first time we got to know each other was during our class reunion in Paris. I don’t know if it was because of Paris or not but it was magical, I think that was the first time I blushed seeing a girl. The conversation started in a formal manner but ended up being just like an intimate chat between close friends because we shared so many common things in our interests and background. She struck me with her thoughtfulness and bright smile.

She’s not only a beautiful girl but also a logical and intelligent person. She always sees things from multiple perspectives and never assumes or judges anybody or anything. She’s also very diligent. As a matter of fact, she’s already paying for her sister’s tuition fee and providing for herself conveniently. That is why I admire her as a person so much.

We are in a distant relationship now and because of the different time zone, we can’t talk frequently but I’m trying to get close to her as soon as possible.

The first time got to know My Tam was, like, 10 years ago when I came across her albums in a music store near my house. Her smoldering eye makeup and iconic hairstyle instantly got into my heart, and you know what’s better than that? her amazing mezzo-soprano voice. I instantly got hooked on her voice upon hearing it played in the music store.

Besides her angelic voice, My Tam is also known for her dedication to her work. She once told the press that she loves her job, and she said that she was willing to be a singer for the rest of her life without getting married, which was quite a statement and made the headline for weeks to come at that particular time. Well you know, I always look up to any well-known public figures who were able to devote all aspects of their lives to their line of work. My Tam struck at people’s heart core by delivering down-to-earth music that inspired thousands of audiences regardless of age, gender, or social status, she was also known for her tireless charity work.

She was such a busy-bee that sometimes she did not care about herself. At one time, she dropped everything to sing live in a concert held by the disadvantaged and donated a huge sum of money for them. She is, by all means, the greatest woman that I have ever seen.

I love her style for several reasons. First, it is her smart choice of clothes. Needless to say, she is very well-dressed and as a working woman, she always chooses classy clothes. She sometimes has accessories as a special feature for her outfit. Although they may be bought in the sale season, my auntie knows how to mix them with suitable clothes and then she has a totally timeless look, which I cannot keep my eyes off.

Second, she has an undeniable alluring style, which does not come from the clothes or accessories she wears on her body but the inborn fresh look in every situation.

That is the key thing that makes her look exquisite in most kinds of outfits, from designer clothes to casual ones. Whenever I go out with her, I feel extremely proud as my aunt often dresses simply but very stunningly. I really admire her style and I wish I can have good taste in fashion to look stylish like her.

With time, she became my best friend. I can rely on her and trust her blindly. We share our interests with each other, career plans, and good or bad experiences. Not just that, but now that she has grown up, we also share our love lives. But that doesn’t mean we don’t fight. We fight like cats and dogs, sometimes verbally and other times – physically.

When not outside, we are usually together the entire day. We read books together and watch movies or web series. Whenever I don’t feel good, she is always there to encourage me. We admire each other and sometimes follow footsteps as well.

Although younger, sometimes, she says a few things that sound extremely logical and intellectual. She is a constant reminder that I must put my best foot forward in whatever I do. She wants to become an actress and I am leaving no stone unturned in helping her fulfill this dream. I just hope she realizes that she is extremely special to me.

Also, even if we go our separate ways a few years down the lane, we have promised each other that we will stay in touch and talk every day.

The restaurant serves several dishes including exotic desserts, ice-creams, drinks, and food for breakfast and lunch. They brew really good coffee, and the latte is the best, and the same goes for their sandwiches, salads, and special soups. The restaurant also offers a selection of delicious, gooey homemade cakes. However, whenever I eat there, I always order the same thing – scrambled egg on wholemeal toast with mushrooms, because that is what I enjoy the most!

I love this restaurant for several reasons. The first and also the most significant reason is for their decoration. The entire restaurant is charmingly decorated with paintings of international celebrities on the walls and the seating arrangement is superb. Moreover, I am also in love with the delicious smoked salmon, a dish that only this restaurant can satisfy me with their outstanding recipe. Besides that, the service is also fantastic. I used to experience delays and other sorts of problems at other places, which almost never happened here. Everything is always in order and I have always been taken care of with excellent customer service.

It is situated at Y – a small quiet lane near my university in the center of my hometown. The coffee house is decorated in an old, traditional French style, with a lot of paintings on the wall, and it attracts a lot of foreign customers. As a full-time student, I have been so caught up in my studies, therefore, I just take a day off to go there on weekends after a long stressful week.

There are many live music events taking place there performed by acoustic guitarists, so I often check them out on the internet and come with my friends. Because this type of music is my kind of thing, I am in my element just humming the tune of the songs and relaxing in a comfy chair to enjoy myself.

The fast food tastes quite savory and especially the coffee in X is always irresistibly delicious. That might be the reason why it was ranked among the top 5 best coffee shops in 2015. What I really love is how cozy the atmosphere is, something which I have not found in any other coffee shop yet. Whenever things go wrong, I often go there as a hideaway to escape from all the pressures and order a cup of coffee to relieve my stress. It always works wonders. I find it extremely therapeutic and soothing. Therefore, it’s more than likely that I will still keep coming back to it as my favorite place in the near future.

I prefer a cozy place, so, I would expect it to be not too big, about 90 to 100 square meters, with 2 bedrooms and 2 balconies. In my opinion, this size is perfect for a small family of parents and one child. When it comes to cleaning the house, you would not feel discouraged by all the chores you have to do.

It would be great if my apartment overlooks a river or bridge, and it should be located on a high floor like the 10th or above. As a person who loves color and nature, I would decorate my house with a lot of paintings and plants. I would make a hanging garden on one of my balconies and put small chairs and tables out so that I could sit there and enjoy my small garden. I would use yellow-tinted bulbs and lamps all over the apartment to make it cozier.

If I got the chance, I would love to make my dream apartment become a reality as soon as possible, because I have always wanted to move out of my parents. Owning an apartment would allow me to do whatever I want, whenever I want.

It’s located in District 1 – right in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. The church is surrounded by other important structures such as Reunification Palace on the right, HCM Post Office on the left, and at the back Diamond Plaza – a great place for shopping. Getting it is quite easy. It’s a 5-minute walk from here.

Even though there’re plenty of churches around here, this one is quite unique for it was built by French colonizers before they left Vietnam.

The architecture of Notre Dame is not only impressive but also unique. It’s quite large. It was built out of bricks and concrete. Its distinctive shape makes it look like a whole lot of mushrooms to me. The church comprises a rectangular building with 2 towers at the sides of the entrance, along with the statue of Mother Maria in front. Because the building is quite old, certain parts of it have been reconstructed time and again.

There’re several activities take place at this place. For example, Christians go there to say their prayers, tourists pay a visit to this must-visit structure, husband-and-wife-to-be pose for their wedding photos while young people just sit around for chit-chat and take in the view. I guess I love this building not only because of its distinct look but also due to the memories I have had there with my friends and loved ones.

One time, in particular, I passed an older man who was begging. It was early in the morning, and I was on my way to a class. Something caused me to take special note of this man. I started to get some money out of my bag for him when it seemed as if a little voice inside told me to get some food for him instead. I hesitated for a moment, but I couldn’t shake the thought. So I went to the nearby market and bought him some fresh stuffed buns, about five of them, and a cup of warm soy milk. Then I went back to the man and handed it to him, and said some kind words to him. I think he was delighted to have some warm food on a chilly morning.

Honestly, though, I think doing this might have made me happier than it did him. I felt good after helping him.

I had always wanted to work for about two years after I had graduated from university. It was on New Year’s Eve and my whole family was there including my parents, my elder brother, and a couple of friends. We met up with some old school friends, it was like a reunion. Also, my mother’s best friend and her son joined us. It was a highly enjoyable occasion as most people knew each other. Also, the food was great.
Everybody came to our house and brought different dishes. We ate barbecued chicken, green salad, and fried and baked potatoes. For dessert, we had plum pudding. We also had a delicious chocolate cake that was made by the son of my mother’s friend who is a chef.

Wow! The party was a blast! There were lots of excited whoops and cheers until late at night. We had a wild time; everyone talked and there was so much laughter that sometimes we had tears corning out of our eyes. It was a really great day with terrific food. Everybody had a wonderful time.

The mojito looked good on the outside but its taste was unbearable to me. Despite my warning, Julie insisted on trying it. It turned out that she liked the drink very much and at that moment, she concluded that it tasted exactly like the toothpaste that she ate in her childhood. Learning of this incident, we were a bit shocked as to why she ate such a thing, so she continued to elaborate on her story. She recalled that she indeed thought that the taste of toothpaste was delicious, and even though she was banned from eating it by her parents, she secretly saved money to buy one for herself a few years later. She added that she sneakily hid the tube in the room and she could finish the whole thing in one go. We were frozen and all eyes were on her for a few seconds. Then we all burst into laughter. I still remember laughing so hard that my tears ran down.

I was indeed impressed by her story. As the matter of fact, it wasn’t the first time I had heard of someone enjoying eating toothpaste, but secretly saving money to do this was a surprise element and it was hilarious. And of course, it has become an inside joke between us since then.

Moving on to the details, I would say that it was more of a family dinner that only involved my own family and some of my sister’s close friends. However, I still tried my best to make it become one of the most unforgettable events of her life by cooking many kinds of dishes that she adored, ranging from Bun Cha to Pho, all of which were Vietnamese specialties. On top of that, I also invited a music band to perform many of her favorite songs, which made the atmosphere at that particular moment become cozier than ever before. In the end, we sang the birthday song when my sister cut the cake. We congratulated her and wished her a successful college life ahead. Then we ate cake and had a good feast together. After the party, my sister came to me and said that was the best birthday party she had ever had in her life. My parents at that time also felt moved because the bond between us was strengthened a lot.

So I thought it would be nice for her to have some time off from all the routine things she does and to get away for a while – a sort of escape.

I arranged with my sister to organize a weekend away at a luxury spa hotel for our mother and her best friend as a gift.
We arranged for her to be picked up and driven there, where she spent the weekend with her friend relaxing and enjoying the spa facilities.

The package we purchased included things like a deep-tissue massage, seaweed wrap, and other spa treatments and the spa location had a swimming pool and other facilities for her and her friend to enjoy over the weekend.

The idea we had was that she would be able to relax and not have to worry about doing anything for a couple of days.

She wouldn’t have to work, prepare meals or worry about anybody else – just have some quality time with her friend and enjoy something different – and be pampered.
My sister and I thought it was a good idea, but honestly, when we thought about it originally, we had no idea that our mother would enjoy it so much.

She came back positively radiant, happy, and smiling and told us she would love to go back again – with us.

Apparently, she had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend, and she thought the spa and hotel were wonderful. She took pictures of everything to show us when she got back. So I guess we made a good choice of gift.

It was something she would never have done for herself – as a gift, it was something special for her, and that was the most important.

Now we’re all looking forward to her birthday next year when we’ll all go together – I think we might have started a new birthday tradition.

Spring in Vietnam normally begins in February and lasts about three to four months. Some call springs the transition between winter and summer, and while I admit that they got a point, I still believe spring is much more of a transitional phase. The first thing that I noticed is that the weather was pretty pleasant compared to other periods of the year. While we usually experience unbearable heat in the summer, and chilling cold in the winter, spring offers a wonderful feel, with gentle breezes and occasional fine rain. This lovely kind of weather allows people, including me, to put on all the clothes that we fancy, without worrying about being too hot or too cold.

The second reason I should mention is that there are a myriad of festivals and traditional holidays during spring, one of which is the most important in our culture: the Lunar New Year, also known as Tet. I love Tet since I will have more time to spend with my family and friends. Even better, I will finally be able to enjoy lots of scrumptious dishes prepared by my mother, which is something I’ve always longed for during the year.

Lastly, spring is when I was born, so there is a personal connection between me and this time of the year. When in spring, I feel energized and geared up for a new year with hopes and anticipation. However, I do have to admit that, sometimes, spring can be quite displeasing, as the atmosphere tends to be quite humid, making things seem to be wet and soggy all the time. But we have ACs at home, so this minor inconvenience is not a big deal at all.

To be honest, there are many reasons why I choose a lawyer as my future job. First, I happened to be watching a lawyer program. They can protect the interests of the poor, and bring justice to the innocent, … I see that this is very wonderful and right. They can stand up for others because of the truth and truth in life. Second, if I become a lawyer, I can also protect my family and the people I love.

Therefore, in order to fulfill my dream, I tried hard to get into Law University. After that, I will aim to graduate with a good diploma. I know that lawyers are a high-pressure field with many challenges. But I love and will forever choose this job. I will fulfill my life’s dream!

My parents told me that, at first, they didn’t know what gift to give me because there were so many choices. But after a while, they agreed that they would buy me a teddy bear because they wanted me to have someone with me, especially when I was home alone.

Actually, I had so many toys that I can’t remember some of them, but I want to talk about the teddy bear for several reasons.

First, he was like my childhood friend, who always stood by me whenever I felt lonely. When I was a kid, my parents often went out to work, so I was left at home with my babysitter. I used to feel lonely, but once I had my teddy bear, I didn’t feel lonely anymore. I played with him and carried him everywhere I went.

Second, whenever I felt sad, I looked at his face with a happy smile, and it cheered me up immediately. I remember my mom saying to me: ‘Don’t be sad! Look at your teddy bear. You need to have an optimistic outlook on life like him, who is always happy!’ Yes, she was right. For me, he was not just a toy but a close friend, who could raise me up whenever I felt down.

I still have him now, and he’s always on my desk, watching me work. Now, I live far away from home, whenever I look at my teddy bear, he reminds me of so many beautiful childhood memories that I had with him and my parents.

So, if I had to talk about a special toy in my childhood, I’d have to be my teddy bear.
